A personal relationship with Jesus is the most important decision you could ever make in your life. It is unlike any other relationship. For if you go into eternity without this relationship, you will spend eternity apart from Him. It takes a clear heart and mind, understanding, prayer, and a large commitment. Please read the following and take it into consideration and pray the prayer of confession and faith if you feel like its time to get things right with God and have a relationship with him.
- The first and foremost thing to understand and always remember is that God loves you. "ButGod commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
- The Bible tells us that we are sinners and all have sinned. "...There is none righteous, no, not one" Romans 3:10 and in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."
- Why should we be concerned about being sinner? When we sin we break the laws of God. When laws are broken, there are penalties to be paid. The Bible clearly tells us what the penalty of sin is. "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
- We can see God's solution for our sinful nature in Romans 5:8 above "...Christ died for us." It's also stated above in Romans 6:23, "...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
- Up to this point, God has done everything. He has loved us. He has shown us our sins. He has told us the penalty of those sins.
- In Romans chapter 10, verses 9, 10, and 13, we can see how to unload that burden of sin... "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." 13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
- When we believe in God and our saviour Jesus Christ and confess that He is our only hope of salvation we reap the rewards of God's grace.
- Romans chapter 8, verses 16 and 17 read, "The Spirit itself bearth witness with our spirit; that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be glorified together."
- One of the best known verses in the Bible sums it all up. In the Book of John, chapter 3, verses 15 through 18 read, "That whosoever believeth in Him [Jesus] should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, the He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn [judge] the world; but that the world might be saved. 18He that believeth on Him [Jesus] is not condemed [judged]: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotted Son of God."
- All we have to do is believe and ask Him to save us and He will.
If you believe and would like Jesus to save you, you can pray directly to Him and ask Him to save you. If you're not sure what to say, pray the following prayer:
Dear God,
I know I am a sinner and admit that I've sinned against you. I know I deserve to pay my own sin debt. But I believe that Jesus died to pay that sin debt and I claim that gift you have offered. Come into my life and save me, that I will have eternal life in the Kingdom of God. I depend solely on Jesus for my salvation. Help me live for you and help me be a good Christian. Fill me now with your Holy Spirit. Thank you for the gift of eternal life, Your Son, Jesus Christ, and thank you for showing me the way. Amen.
